BIED is involved in the capacity development of government officials and teachers through its provision of short courses and trainings. An extensive exchange of ideas and opinions with the government revealed the need for positive changes in classroom teaching, learning and management. The courses are tailor made and involve training to teachers, instructors and coordinators and government officials in the education sector.
Performed in partnership with the Directorate of Primary Education (DPE), over 500 head teachers and government officials have received these short courses. An extensive exchange of ideas and opinions with the government revealed the need for positive changes in classroom teaching, learning and management. Between March 2011 and April 2013, BIED provided short courses to head teachers (HTs) and Assistant Upazilla Education Officers (AUEOs) on ‘How the HTs and AUEOs Can Make the School Work’ and short courses on pre-primary education to Assistant District Primary Education Officers (ADPEOs), Upazilla Education Officers (UEOs), AUEOs and Primary Training Institute (PTI) and Upazilla Resource Centre (URC) Instructors.
BIED also developed and delivered a Short Course on ‘Child Development, Play & Creativity and School Readiness’, which was a 10-day short course on the Early Childhood Development (ECD) topics of child development, play & creativity and school readiness. Additionally, parenting courses on ECD have been developed by BIED, which look to make parents more aware and capable in regards to ECD.
